Happy July 4th!

I hope everyone had a fantastic 4th of July! It is one of my favorite holidays and as my kids get older I will always remember our family July 4th traditions.

Our favorite is a pre-parade brunch at our house. We invite friends over for bagels, and of course bloody marys, and then we walk to the parade. The parade is just for our little village so we know everyone in the parade. The kids have walked in the parade with their school. soccer team and baseball team. They love to throw candy to the crowds. For dinner, we were treated to awesome fajitas and pomagranete margaritas at a friends party. We walk to the fireworks and then back home. It is a 14 hour party! It is a great day but a long day! Glad to have Sunday to rest!

I hope you all had a great day and made some new memories!

Paper Celebration joins Facebook

Keeping up with Social Marketing!

The social marketing phenomenon is exciting as it spreads to all age groups. There's linkedin, twitter, Facebook, Plaxo and many, many more.  I admit I was not interested at first. I use email and the phone all day long and thought I was doing a pretty good job of keeping in touch with everyone. I joined Facebook because of an upcoming high school reunion (will not mention how many years) and connected to friends that I have not seen in years and had the opportunity to see their cute kids. I admit it is a lot of fun!  I discovered linkedin when my hubby found himself looking for a new job in this wonderful economy (thanks Experian) so I signed up too and have re-connected with people that I worked with while at Campbell Soup Company. Research is showing that social networking may surpass email in popularity one day which I never thought could happen. As technology continues to change I will try to keep up and embrace the change. At least I will be able to communicate well with my tech savvy kids and it is a chance for a brain work out too.

Here's where you can find Paper Celebration:

Chocolate Chocolate-Chip Cookies for a Valentine Sweetheart

IMG_007777

If you want to impress your favorite valentine and they are a lover of chocolate then I highly recommend these Chocolate Chocolate-Chip Cookies. They are absolutely bursting with chocolate and are one of my top two cookies recipes (the other is a chocolate chip oatmeal peanut butter cookie). The best part for you, the baker, is that they are super easy to make! It's a win-win for everyone.

Chocolate Chocolate-Chip Cookies

1 cup (2sticks) softened butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 tablespoon coffee-flavored liqueur

2 cups flour
2/3 cup baking cocoa
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350F. Cream butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla and liqueur. Combine flour, baking cocoa, baking soda and salt. Blend into creamed mixture. Add chips. Drop by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on baking sheets. Bake 8 minutes. Leave on sheets to cool 2 minutes before serving.  Makes 4 dozen cookies.
